Qualifying Information

 

To compete in the 2018 NYS Boys' & Girls' Junior Amateur Championship at Irondequoit, non-exempt players must advance through sectional qualifying. Listed below is an overview of the sectional qualifying rules, conditions, and schedules.

Entry Fee

There is no fee to qualify (FREE!). Players who qualify will be charged a fee of $100 to participate in the championship.

 

Format

The format is 18 holes of individual stroke play.

 

Ties

Any players tied for the last qualifying spot or any alternate position (2 alternates for fields with over 10 players, 1 alternate for fields under 10 players) will compete in a hole-by-hole playoff to determine who advances. If a playoff is impossible due to weather or darkness, the USGA method of matching scorecards will be used.

 

Advancing Players

Players who advance through qualifying will be emailed with instructions on how to register for the championship.

 

Pairings

Will be posted on this website and emailed directly to participants shortly after the close of entries.

 

Practice Rounds

The availability and pricing of practice rounds is set at the discretion of the host club. Please contact the club for more information.

 

Golf Carts

Are not permitted.

 

Push Carts
Players are permitted to use push carts, whether motorized or manual, during this qualifier.

 

Caddies

Are not permitted.

 

Dress Code

Players are required to wear neatly pressed, traditionally accepted golf attire. If a contestant is found to be wearing clothing contrary to this code, or is wearing acceptable clothing in a non-traditional manner, he will be asked to make the necessary corrections or risk the penalty of disqualification.
